How long does setup take?
Most of it is choosing your images. Start from a template, swap in your own cards, connect the combinations and add the block in the theme editor – no code involved.
Which themes are supported?
Online Store 2.0 themes, i.e. themes with JSON templates where you can add app blocks in the theme editor. Older vintage themes don’t support app blocks, so MatchGrid can’t be added there. Before installing, check in your theme editor whether “Apps” appears under “Add block” or “Add section”.
Which languages are supported?
The app is available in English and German. Storefront texts follow your shop language; English and German are included. You write headings and card texts yourself.
Will it slow down my store?
MatchGrid is built to stay light: no framework, about 3 KB JavaScript and 2 KB CSS, and images are lazy-loaded from Shopify’s CDN. Autoplay only runs while the finder is visible.
Why are some cards greyed out in my store?
With the current selection there’s no target for that card. Connect the missing combinations under “Targets” or via + in the matrix.
Does it work with variants or personalised products?
Yes. Link the combination to the product page – shoppers choose the variant or add their personalisation there.
Can I use the same finder more than once?
Yes. Pick it in as many blocks as you like. Changes in the app apply everywhere at once.
What happens if I uninstall the app?
The block disappears from your theme. MatchGrid adds no code to your theme files, so nothing is left behind.
What are the limits per plan?
Light: 1 finder with 2 steps and 8 cards per step, 40 targets, plus 1 bundle with 2 rows. Basic: 2 finders with up to 4 steps and 16 cards, 150 targets, 2 bundles with 4 rows each and discounts. Pro: 15 finders, 15 bundles, 24 cards per step, 300 targets, statistics and card styles. Prices are shown in Shopify under Apps.
Why does Pro have numbers instead of unlimited?
Because Shopify allows at most 25 active automatic discounts per shop, and every finder or bundle with its discount switched on uses one. So “unlimited” would be a promise the platform can’t keep. MatchGrid uses at most 20 of them at a time, so the rest stays free for your own discounts. A finder or bundle without its discount switched on doesn’t count at all.
